Energy Optimization policy compliant with Sustainable Development in Polish Economy

Abstract

This paper describes the Polish energy sector and examines directions of structural changes compliant with sustainable development policy. Energy transformation and consumption in Poland are responsible for most of the main emissions that have international limits established. This implies that it is important to find a policy that would improve energy-environmental interactions. The author wants to establish what effect do factors such as energy efficiency, economic growth, and population growth, have on determining the changes in these interactions. Some of them positively influence the relationship between energy and environment, but some have a negative effect. However, there could exist some feedback effects. Author tries to take all of these effects into account and propose policy that allows achieving the desired effects. Achievement of these effects may not depend on technical possibilities, but a political ones, i.e. ones determined by social acceptance. If Polish society will not improve their welfare when pollution emission lessens, it might be difficult to change policy in a sustainable development fashion.
